The Business Curriculum team continues to grow in the courses it offers.  Focusing at Key Stage 4 and 5 we have a variety of courses for all abilities and interests in the world of Business.  Business is taught predominantly in air conditioned rooms with two dedicated computer rooms supported by wireless enabled laptops in our classrooms.

At Key Stage 4 we offer three courses:

Business Studies

Equivalent to one full GCSE, this course allows students to develop an initial understanding of what business is about.  Studying three units, students develop the skills needed to be future entrepreneurs whilst gaining experience of the relevant departments within business and their related functions.  Assessment is through two externally sat exams and one piece of controlled assessment.

BTEC Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism

Equivalent to two GCSE's, this course enables learners to gain an understanding of the travel and tourism industry and start them on a journey to explore the world of travel and tourism, an exciting and vibrant global sector.  Assessment is coursework and exam based consisting of 8 units, 2 core, 2 mandatory and 4 optional units, of which 6 are coursework and 2 are exam based.

BTEC Travel and Tourism Subject Information Sheet

Equivalent to one full GCSE, this course provides an understanding of the commercial world and how finance is raised and used by the government to pay for the nation's goods and services. It encourages students to consider the practical application of business and economic concepts and explores the theories and concepts in the context of events in the business and economic world. Assessment is through two externally sat exams.
