Steyning Grammar School is a split site school, with workshop facilities on both sites. The Lower School has a Resistant Materials workshop, a Food Technology room, and an Electronic Products room with class set of computers.
Upper School Technology Block is well equipped, with 2 Food rooms, 2 Multi-media workshops, Engineering workshop, heat treatment room, 2 Graphics rooms in a purpose built block, an IT CAD/CAMM room and a well equipped Systems and Control room. Within these facilities are four rooms with computer access for a full class of up to 20.
The facilities are exceptional, allowing the students to have every opportunity to develop or hone their subject skills. In our dedicated Engineering workshop students regularly make use of four metal lathes, milling machine, aluminium casting facilities, shot-blasting tank, and oxy acetylene to name but a few. Graphics students benefit from T-shirt printing, mug printing and sublimation printing. The faculty also makes use of two laser cutters, 3D printing and many industry standard software packages.
We have a strong team ethos and are not afraid of change and thrive on challenge. In all the areas of Technology we are constantly looking to new developments in materials and ingredients to provide stretch and challenge to our students. We are, therefore, looking to instil in students the willingness to confront challenges and to develop their expertise.
At Key Stage 3, the students have lessons in the following subjects; Food Technology, Systems and Control, Resistant Materials and Graphics. Since September 2008, our Key Stage 3 was consolidated into two years.
