One aspect of this is the catering that we provide for the students through our four kitchens. The catering team is committed to a policy which ensures 'Fresh Food' is featured at all times. Fresh ingredients are extensively used to ensure pupils have the opportunity to get a significant proportion of their daily nutritional needs from their school meal.
Breakfast is available from 8.20 a.m. to 8.50 a.m. on the Shooting Field campus. Lunch, as well as break time snacks, all meet the requirements of the Government Nutritional Standards and Healthy Eating guidelines. The Steyning Grammar School Catering Team offers a wide range of meals and snacks to suit all tastes and dietary requirements at a very reasonable price. Pupils also have the option to bring their own packed lunch to school if they prefer.
The canteen operates a biometric fingerprint system for pupils to purchase food. Parents add funds to pupil catering accounts via our secure on line payment system, Parent Pay. The maximum spend limit per day is set at £5 - if you wish this to be lowered for your child, please contact the Finance Office.
A hot dinner can be obtained in all four kitchens; this consists of either a meat dinner or a vegetarian option with a serving of fresh vegetables. We also provide jacket potatoes with a variety of fillings or pasta. Hot puddings, fresh fruit, yoghurts or home baked cakes are available to complement the main meal, together with a selection of drinks.
In addition to the hot option, pupils can choose from a range of sandwiches, wraps, baguettes and boxed salads.
At break time, pupils can purchase from a range of healthy ‘grab and go’ snacks.
