REMAP

During REMAP our students are given real problems to work on. They are required to take ownership and control of their learning. 

They have the opportunity to learn about things that matter to them; they have to do the planning, research and the making of meaning. Sometimes learners have to do this by themselves and at other times they work in teams.  They often have to work beside people from outside school and they have to present their learning to others.

Projects this year have included teaching Year 4 students, planning an education trip for next year’s Year 7; marketing and fund-raising ideas for Steyning Town Community Football Club; and hosting an exhibition for parents.

Through REMAP, students have the opportunity to practice and develop a wide range of learning charcateristics. Students self-assess their learning characteristics before a project begins and discuss targets to work on through the course of the project.  The targets are reviewed halfway through a project and again at the end.  These learning characteristics are applied in the wider curriculum to develop achievement across all subjects.
